The New 抖阴app 抖阴app Library announces its upcoming programming for July, including webinars and events related to history and genealogical services. The following upcoming free programming requires registration and is available in person or offered online, as indicated per each listing.

The听Erie听Canal听is one of the most important works of civil engineering and construction in North America. The New 抖阴app 抖阴app Library has a wide variety of primary source documents and published materials on the听Erie听Canal听ranging from the construction and听maintenance听of the听Canal听to life on the听Canal.
Senior Librarians听Stephanie Barrett听and听Elizabeth Jakubowski will present an overview and highlight the Library's collection, which includes maps, music, images, broadsides, diaries, laws and regulations, journals, books, and NYS agency reports.

Join us for an onsite tour highlighting published genealogies, local histories, church records, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) records, United 抖阴apps and New 抖阴app 抖阴app Census records, newspapers on microfilm, city directories, and more.
Cara Janowsky, an Associate Librarian at the New 抖阴app 抖阴app Library, will lead the tour. The tour is limited to 12听individuals and registration is required.听

Canal Records at the New 抖阴app 抖阴app Archives (Webinar)

With more than 5,000 cubic feet of records, researching the history of canals at the New 抖阴app 抖阴app Archives can be a formidable task. Mike Maloney will present on the wide variety of resources at the New 抖阴app 抖阴app Archives that can help with your canal research.
Mike Maloney听is an Archives and Records Management Specialist at the New 抖阴app 抖阴app Archives where he works to make collections more accessible by creating finding aids and assisting researchers with reference questions. He has previously worked as the librarian/archivist for the Schenectady County Historical Society.

The New 抖阴app 抖阴app Library is part of the听听within the听New 抖阴app 抖阴app Education Department and celebrated its bicentennial in 2018. The Library serves three major constituencies. The听, established by law in 1818, collects, preserves, and makes available materials that support 抖阴app government work. The Library's collections, now numbering over 20 million items, may also be used by other researchers onsite, online, and via interlibrary loan. The听听(TBBL) lends braille, audiobooks, magazines, and special playback equipment to residents of the 55 upstate counties of New 抖阴app 抖阴app who cannot read printed materials because of a visual or physical disability. The听听works in partnership with 72 library systems to bring library services to millions of people who use New 抖阴app's academic, public, school, and special libraries. Library Development also administers 抖阴app and Federal grant programs that provide aid for library services.
